Reading on Adult Dyslexia

There are all sorts of books and articles available on adult dyslexia that can help adults who have this problem to take a firm control over their lives. There are books that can help with identifying adult dyslexia, helping with acknowledging one's problems that contribute to dyslexia and helping to create learning plans that will enable the person to correct his or her problems.

 

The first of the books on adult dyslexia is from the very popular "For Dummies" series. Overcoming Dyslexia for Dummies is written by Tracey Wood, a professional reading specialist. This book deals with recognizing the symptoms of adult dyslexia and how these symptoms can easily impact and modify one's life. Understanding how dyslexia test results function are also identified here, as the results can be important to know for setting up an accurate plan. Setting up an individualized workout plan using these results is also covered.

Another of the books on handling adult dyslexia is Facing Learning Disabilities in the Adult Years by special education experts Joan Shapiro and Rebecca Rich. This book covers the various different causes of dyslexia in adults and about the symptoms of this disorder. It also tends to offer tips on vocational rehabilitation, educational interventions and other services that can be used by dyslexic adults to treat their problems.

One of the most useful books for handling adult dyslexia is Overcoming Dyslexia by the neuroscientist Sally Shaywitz. This book focuses on the nature of dyslexia and how the crucial role of the brain in dyslexia. Details on diagnosing and treating the disorder is also featured here. While this is a book that is especially popular for parents who are looking to treat dyslexia in children this is a great program to use for adults as well, and it is even especially endorsed by financial services group founder and former dyslexic Charles Schwab.

The last of the books to consider is a book to help with discussing the symptoms of adult dyslexia and how to get some help. This book is An Introduction to Dyslexia for Parents and Professionals by Alan M. Hultquist. This book discusses how to handle a person who is dyslexic and how to obtain help. This will include all sorts of different forms of dyslexia that can appear in adults, including phonological and ortohographic forms of dyslexia. Details on dyslexia testing and modifications for those who are working to treat their dyslexia are also featured here.

These are all books on adult dyslexia to consider for helping to treat the problem of dyslexia.
